Meet Laura & Brenden Ramsay – Owners And The Heart of Raven's View Acres
Our Story
It all started over a pair of Muck Boots...
The last few years changed the world a bit and Laura found herself no longer in the banking industry and back in the world of Equine. So off she went to work at Irvines....the Disneyworld of the horse community.
Brenden, a frequent shopper of Irvines, had a pair of defective Muck boots he needed to exchange before his return to work. Fate intervened and had Laura help him that day to get the matter resolved.
Never being one to shy away from an awkward situation, Laura offered Brenden the opportunity to hold hands right away! He naturally declined as they were currently covered in saddle soap! Throughout their first conversation, it became clear there was a spark between them. That "quick" boot exchange turned into a 45-minute chat in the middle of the store.
After taking a bold step and giving Brenden her number, she spent the rest of the day walking around with a silly grin on her face. She may or may not have blushed a bit when he messaged that evening.
When he returned from his work rotation it only took a few days before they were able to meet up and hang out. After they had spent an embarrassing amount of time talking on the phone like teenagers, of course!
From that very first day, it was clear they shared the same goals and passions. Life on a farm, a life with horses. Growing their own food and growing as spirits in our human experience.Creating happiness for others. A business that could provide the privilege of working from home.
Prior, during and following Laura’s time in the financial sector, event planning and wedding coordination was a long time passion actively pursued. Having hosted everything from small scale gatherings, wedding planning/ day of coordination, to large scale corporate events (with an amazing team of course). Brenden had run a business building custom made timber pieces and houses. His ability and passion to build just about anything will be prominent throughout the property. From the rustic skid cabins for overnight accommodations to the onsite built wedding archways to come in the future. By combining both of our life goals and passions and after finding the perfect property to do that with, we were able to start Raven’s View Acres, last year. Since then we’ve added multiple cats, dogs, chickens and horses to the property.
We cant wait to share our beautiful property with you and treat you like family we’re just meeting. The fun family members of course! The view is absolutely worth the drive.
We spent the year prior to launching the business doing upgrades, renovations, clean up around the property, lots of planning and meetings and finally our OWN wedding as the test run. We view our wedding photos that include property details as the “before” photos. See below for some of the progress shots. We're still amazed at how far it's come and we have loads of plans to continue improvements as each year goes by to ensure our guests have the most memorable events.
